Zoonotic diseases prevention education and communication campaign. For the past three years CIC staff have supported the Veterinary Services Department (VSD) of the Forestry Commission – Ghana in carrying out rabies prevention programs in dog-bite prone districts and municipalities throughout the country. CIC with support from the VSD and sponsorship from B I Animal Health France will undertake rabies prevention education activities in over 1100 schools in the Greater Accra, Eastern, Volta, Central
Ashanti and Bono regions of Ghana.
CIC pioneered the engagement of the private sector in malaria prevention in Ghana. It implemented the Malaria Safe Initiative with over 17 private companies and three large parastatal companies in Ghana. The Volta River Authority (VRA) and the Ghana Revenue Authority (VRA) for example, developed and launched their own Malaria Prevention and Control Strategies in 2012 through CIC support. The Ghana PSMP funded by UK Aid (2017-2019) through which over 53 private sector businesses in three of the most urbanised regions of Ghana, Greater Accra, Western and Ashanti Regions were mobilized to support malaria prevention among their workers and surrounding communities was an outcrop of the CIC’s Malaria Safe Initiative.
