Empowerment of youth for a productive future in the areas of relevant skills development.

This is one of the foundation program areas on which CIC’s operations have been built. Between 2010 and 2013, CIC under the Voices for a Malaria Free Future project of the Johns Hopkins Centre for Communication Programs(JHU-CCP),funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, implemented the Malaria Safe Initiative with over 17 private companies and three large parastatal companies in Ghana. The Volta River Authority (VRA) and the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) for example, developed and launched their own Malaria Prevention and Control Strategies in 2012 through support and direction from CIC.

Currently, 2017 – 2019, the Private Sector Malaria Prevention project (PSMP) project of  JHU-CCP funded by DFID UKaid, has taken Malaria Safe to a new height by successfully engaging about 53 private sector businesses in three of the most urbanised regions of Ghana, Greater Accra, Western and Ashanti Regions to support malaria prevention among their workers and surrounding communities.

CIC in line with its Empowerment Our Priority initiative would expand the scope of Malaria Safe to provide support to businesses to effectively reduce the adverse effects of malaria and other health problems on productivity and general wellbeing of the workforce and surrounding communities. Such other health problems include Family Planning and Reproductive Health, Adolescent Reproductive Health, HIV/AIDS and Stigma Management, Tuberculosis, Obesity and Diabetics, Hypertension and Stroke, Workplace Injury and Safety.
